Smooth, rich, beautiful long-lasting taste
I'm loving the Sumatra beans and now always use these for my first cup of the day.
Notes: Peach syrup and spices, intense dark chocolate finish.
About producer: Indonesia was the fourth-largest producer of coffee in the world in 2014. Coffee cultivation in Indonesia began in the late 1600s and early 1700s, in the early Dutch colonial period, and has played an important part in the growth of the country. Indonesia is geographically and climatologically well-suited for coffee plantations, near the equator and with numerous interior mountainous regions on its main islands, creating well-suited microclimates for the growth and production of coffee.
Today, more than 90% of Indonesia's coffee is grown by smallholders on farms averaging around one hectare. Some of this production is organic and many farmers’ cooperatives and exporters are internationally certified to market organic coffee.
Coffee from this western-most island in Indonesia is intriguing and complex, due to the large number of small-holder producers and the unique giling basah processing technique they use. At the green bean stage, coffee from this area has a distinctive bluish colour, which is attributed to processing method and lack of iron in the soil.
A high quality coffee from the Indonesian Archipelago. Rich, indulgent and full bodied with notes of peach syrup and spices with subtle acidity and intense dark chocolate finish.
Brewing Methods: One of my top 5 coffees. Sumatra coffee definitely packs a punch. Full of richness and can be thoroughly enjoyed an as espresso for those who have an experienced palate. For a smoother and much delicate delivery you simply need to have this using an AeroPress, lifting the sweetness this coffee delivers. If using a stove top, I personally prefer to pre heat the water prior to inserting into the reservoir and let it reach to boil. The result of a very rich bodied espresso, thick with a slight kick if acidity. V60, is another great option. Here the coffee still packs a punch, however a much cleaner taste as the acids are removed, but equally very enjoyable.
